Where you can and can't stop, wait or park — kerb markings, zig-zags and clearways. Practise 55 questions free, each with the correct answer and a plain-English explanation mapped to the Highway Code.
What you need to know
- Never park on zig-zag lines near crossings or where you'd block access.
- Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time.
- At night, park in the direction of traffic flow (except in a marked bay).
Sample question
How close to a junction may you park ?
- As close as you need to
- 10 metres
- 5 metres
- 15 metres
Why
You must not park within 10 metres of any junction unless you are in an authorized parking space.
Common mistake
Stopping on crossing zig-zags 'just for a moment' — it's prohibited and dangerous.
